Our Aim
The major community support for Glenview State School comes from the Glenview Parents and Citizens Association. The association runs a number of programs that are designed to provide a service to the school, enhance the life of the students, and also to raise funds so that the P&C can financially contribute to the betterment of Glenview State School.

Meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month in a friendly and informal environment. The P&C value the local community and their contribution to Glenview State School.

Tuckshop
Glenview State School is a health promoting school and is supported by the P&C through the Tuckshop.

The tuckshop is outsourced to the local BP service station. Students and families enjoy the opportunity to have tuckshop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Glenview P&C supports the school by providing healthy food at the Athletics and Swimming Carnival.

Uniforms
Glenview State School is a “Uniform School,” and in keeping with our Sun Safe Policy and our “no hat, no play” program, the P&C offers a wide range of light, easy to wear uniforms. The concept of wearing of uniforms at Glenview is very much supported by all members of the P&C Association, the parents of the School, the Principal and her teaching staff, and is encouraged on a daily basis with very successful results.

Uniforms are readily available from the Uniform Convenor and sales are also conducted on a regular basis, every Monday morning between 8.45am – 9.00am; and Friday afternoons between 2.45pm and 3.15pm in Modular 3.

Navy blue and red are our colours, the red shirts incorporating a logo depicting a parrot, one of the many varied species of birds found within the school grounds.

Community Activities
School Community Dance:  Once every year the P&C runs a school dance for the children of Glenview State School.  Our disc jockey keeps the parents and children dancing until exhaustion overwhelms us all.  A different theme is chosen each year and enjoyed by the whole community.

Carols by Candlelight:  Every year in the first week of December, the Glenview P&C holds Carols by Candlelight evening on the school oval.  The evening is an opportunity for the School community to come together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.  The school children actively participate through the development of entertainment for the evening, which they prepare for, either as part of the curriculum, or extra curricula.  The evening includes singing of all the popular Christmas Carols by the community as a whole.
Partnerships with the Community
Glenview P&C has established partnerships with other community organizations, service organizations and government to facilitate better community. These include: Caloundra City Council, Queensland Health, Australian Nutritional Foundation, Lions, Mooloolah Valley Country Club, Mooloolah Valley Landcare, Family Planning Association, Queensland Police, Sunshine Coast Environment Council, Mooloolah Auxiliary Fire Brigade, Caloundra RSL supporting ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
Outside School Hours Care
Glenview Outside School Hours Care - "Kidz Bizz" operated by the P&C, offers Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care.

Students arriving at school before 8.15am are encouraged to take advantage of our "Kidz Bizz" Before School Care service.

The service is open to all families with children from pre-school to year seven regardless of which school they attend. All families are welcomed whether they are working parents, sole parents, students, unemployed or families just wishing to participate for the occasional care should they want an afternoon free of children.

After School Care operates from 2:30pm - 6:00pm school days and full time on a Pupil Free Day. The cost is subsidised by Centrelink, based on family income. The average cost is $3.00 an afternoon. As well as offering a nutritious afternoon tea the program offers sport, team games, art and craft, cooking and drama. Homework is also supervised if requested. Before School care operates from 7:00am on week days.

Vacation care operates from 8am - 6pm with exciting programs and excursions offered. The children are taken to the Ewan Maddock Dam for kayaking BBQ and swimming, the movies, the Rollerdrome, Bribie Island and the Big Pineapple.

We aim to provide a 'Hands On' program rather than technology where children can explore their talents and interests fostered by staff with diverse backgrounds in art, sport and environment.

Bookings are advisable and can be made through the Glenview State School or by contacting Sue Gilmour, the co-ordinator on 5494 7574 or mobile 0422 664 389.
